Many do. The coast boats and the private Capri boats board at the pier on Spiaggia Grande, and the Pompeii days from Positano collect you at your hotel. Others start in Sorrento, Naples or Rome, so every card here says where the day begins.

A shared small boat along the coast to Amalfi, boarding on Positano's main beach, is the easy first choice: four to seven hours, 12 guests at most, and several swim stops. If Capri is the goal, a private boat from Positano's pier gives you the island at your own pace.

Yes. Boats and ferries cross in about 30 minutes in season, and the Capri tours give you three to four hours ashore. Budget for Capri's €5 landing tax and, if it is open, about €18 for the Blue Grotto.

No tour here includes it. The rowboat and entry cost about €18 a head, paid on the spot, and the grotto closes when the sea is high or the tide covers the entrance. The boats that stop there say so on their cards, and none can guarantee entry.

There is no railway on the Amalfi Coast, so it is a road trip: about an hour and a half each way from Positano. The Pompeii tours from Positano include the transfer, and most put the park ticket in the fare. Going alone means the SITA bus to Sorrento and the Circumvesuviana train.

€20 for the ancient city since 12 January 2026, and €25 with the suburban villas. Entry is free on the first Sunday of the month. Several tours here already include the ticket, and their cards say so.

No. The nearest railheads are Sorrento, at the end of the Circumvesuviana line from Naples, and Salerno on the main line. From either, you continue by bus, ferry or private car.

A private transfer takes about an hour to an hour and a half by road, and some add a stop at Pompeii. By public transport it is a bus or train to Sorrento, then the SITA coast bus. In summer you can also take a ferry from Naples to Positano's pier.

Yes, as a long day of 12 to 15 hours by coach or high-speed train. You get one to two and a quarter hours in Positano, and most of these days add Pompeii or Amalfi. If you can, stay a night instead.

Positano ticket prices on the boats cover the boat, the skipper and usually drinks. Often left out are a landing or docking fee paid in cash, snorkel gear on some boats, lunch ashore, and on Capri days the landing tax and the Blue Grotto. Each card lists what its own fare leaves out.

Most private boats are priced per group for a set number of guests, shown beside the price. A few private listings still quote per person, and their cards say so, so multiply before you compare.

The operator decides on the day and can cancel for weather, and you are then offered another date or a full refund. Almost every tour here also has free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead, so book early and keep your plans flexible.

May, June and September. The ferries run from April to October, the sea is warm by June, and September keeps the warmth without August's crowds. In August the coast road also runs an alternate-plates rule every day.

In summer, yes: the small boats take 12 guests or fewer and fill days ahead. A Positano reservation for May or October is easier to leave late. Positano booking is done online on each operator's listing, and most fares refund in full up to 24 hours before.

It is a town of steps, and most boats board from the pier by a gangway. Private cars reduce the climbing, and two of the private Pompeii tours are listed as wheelchair accessible. Ask the operator before you book if anyone in your party walks with difficulty.

Between €2.50 and €5 per person per night, charged from 1 April to 31 October by hotel class: €5 in five-star hotels, €4 in four-star, €3 in three-star and €2.50 elsewhere. Children under ten pay nothing.

From the pier on Spiaggia Grande, beside the ferry dock. The operators' kiosks line the beachfront, and each listing names its own meeting point, so arrive 15 to 20 minutes early.

Yes. Every coast and Capri boat here stops to swim, usually two or three times. Wear swimwear under your clothes, since there is rarely anywhere to change.

On some. A few boats include masks and snorkels, one supplies masks without tubes, and others ask you to bring your own or buy a mask before boarding. Each card says which.

From four hours to a full day of seven or eight. The four-hour boat from Positano's main beach suits a morning; the Capri days run seven to eight hours.

No. Li Galli, the three islets off Positano, are private, and boats stop to swim beside them or pass by. Rudolf Nureyev owned them until his death in 1993.

Most boats take children, and on some infants sit on a lap. Check each listing's own age bands, and bring a sun hat and a change of clothes for the ride back.

About 30 minutes, on services that run from roughly April to October. Operators and timetables change every year, so check the season's schedule before you travel.

Yes, on the SS163 coast road, but parking in town is scarce. From June to October an alternate-plates rule applies between Vietri sul Mare and Positano from 10:00 to 18:00 on set days, so check before you drive.

The Path of the Gods runs 7.8 km high above the coast from Bomerano in Agerola to Nocelle, above Positano, taking about two to two and a half hours. From Nocelle you either walk down the long stairway or take the local bus.

Counts run from about 1,500 to 1,700, and the descent takes most people well over half an hour. The local bus from Nocelle through Montepertuso is the easy alternative.

Spiaggia Grande and Fornillo both have free stretches beside the paid lidos. Arienzo is half free, half beach club, and Laurito is reached only by boat.

By the Da Adolfo boat, which carries a red fish on its mast and runs from the pier on Spiaggia Grande. There is no road down to the cove.

Santa Maria Assunta holds a 13th-century Byzantine icon of the Black Madonna. Beneath the church lies the Roman villa of MAR Positano, buried in AD 79 and opened to visitors in 2018.

Every day, from 9:00 to 21:00 between April and October and from 10:00 to 16:00 between November and March. Tickets are sold through the museum's own site.
